Starting in 2016, a winter tire discount was made mandatory for all insurance companies. If you have winter tires on your vehicle and are not taking advantage of the discount, make sure you do.

What Do I Need to Do?
In order to qualify for the discount make sure that your tires are approved winter tires and not all season or mud tires. A winter tire must have this symbol in order to qualify for the discount:
Almost all tires sold as snow or winter tires will have it on the wall of the tire.
Once you know you have proper winter tires give your broker a call and they will let you know what is required. Depending on your insurance company they may not require anything where others may require receipts for either the purchase or installation of the tires before they will give you a discount.
The companies also require that the tires be installed from November to March.
