There were a few insurance companies that were offering discounts due to covid-19. The discounts were based around people driving less during the lockdown. The companies were rating based on reducing the mileage to the absolute minimum. Some of these companies set their discounts to automatically expire after 90 days. They set it up as an automated process so their systems would automatically revert back to the usage prior to the covid-19 lockdown. This month we are starting to see the discounts fall off and the mileage return to the prior levels.
This means two things for insurance customers. It is a good idea to double check your next payment to see if there are any changes so you won’t accidentally miss it due to insufficient funds. If you can’t find your paperwork feel free to give your broker a call to send you a current copy. Secondly, if you are still driving less than you were before the pandemic then give your broker a call to review the usage on your policy. Your broker can help you make sure everything is accurate so you can feel confident you are getting the best price.
If your insurance company was not offering a covid-19 discount then there is nothing you have to worry about. It is still a good idea to call your broker if it’s been a while as we are always happy to go through your policy with you.
