Some parts of the world are experiencing record breaking high temperatures currently. Here are a few tips in order to stay cool and safe this summer.
Avoiding the Heat at Home
Make sure your air conditioner is in proper working order. Have it turned on to keep your house cool. If you do not have air conditioning spend some time at a library, mall or movie theater to stay cool.
Spend time in your basement as that will be the coolest part of your house.
Use ceiling or portable fans to help circulate air.
Drink lots of cold water.
Have a cool shower or bath.
When cooking try not to use your oven. Use a slow cooker instead.
Cover windows with drapes or shades.
Avoiding Heat Outdoors
Always stay hydrated. Bring lots of water on any outdoor excursions.
Try to plan outdoor activities in the early morning or in the evening to avoid the heat.
Don’t drink alcohol or too much caffeine as they can dehydrate you.
