Halloween Safety Tips

Posted on:

Halloween is quickly approaching and the team at Absolute Insurance Brokers wants everyone to be safe and have a good time. Here are a few tips to keep both your children and your home safe and hazard free during this spooky holiday.
Safety Tips for Kids:
 IF you are under twelve, make sure you take an adult with you
 Place reflective tape on both front and back of your costume and trick or treat bag
 Carry flashlights or glow sticks when walking
 If possible wear face paint or makeup instead of a mask as they impair your vision
 Cross the street at corners, obeying traffic signals and crosswalks. Work your way up one side of the street and then back down the other side rather than going back and forth.
 Travel in groups of 3 or more
 Bring a cell phone for emergencies
 Do not visit houses that are not well lit and never enter a strangers house
 If you have any allergies make sure you tell the people handing out treats
 Do not eat any treats before your parent looks through the bag
 Don’t eat all your candy at once!
Safety Tips for Homeowners
 Turn on all of your outdoor lighting and make sure all bulbs are functioning
 Make sure there are no trip hazards including wet leaves
 Use battery powered flameless “candles” in your pumpkins
 Consider handing out peanut free candy or other alternatives
And just as important, if you are driving anywhere on Halloween night be extra careful, keeping any eye out for pedestrians and making sure your lights are on. Have a safe and spooky Halloween.
