Some interesting things about cows!
Yes, chocolate milk comes from Brown coloured cows; Strawberry flavoured milk comes from Red coloured cows; and for some reason the traditional white milk comes from Black and White cows. I am thankful the white gene dominates the black gene. Can you imagine drinking black milk?
Confession – none of the above is true!! All milk regardless of what colour the cow is gives “white” milk. It is only in the processing stage where they add the different ingredients to create the different colours and flavours.
Another interesting thing about cows is that each cow eats around 100 pounds of food every day. Wow, I find that incredible! I believe a block of butter we buy is 1 pound; imagine eating a pile of 100 of those each day. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that dairy cows have 4 stomachs, or 4 compartments inside 1 stomach. I always wonder how that works? How do they know what food goes in what compartment? Another unique twist is that cows regurgitate food from their stomachs later when they are sitting around and “re-chew” the food. Imagine eating and then bringing up your food later to simply chew it again. Sounds like a good time!! Cows have been observed to make approximately 40,000 jaw movements a day. My mind is blown; but when I think about it a cow’s mouth is always moving. I also read somewhere it is impossible for cows to “throw up”? I guess that means they never overeat or overdrink!!
Who ever thought cows were so interesting?
I will leave you with one question that you can e-mail me your answer, or tell me about your experience. Is “cow tipping” possible? Is “cow tipping” a real thing? Send me your answer to contact@absoluteinsurance.ca, or call the office at 519-941-2266 and ask for the farm department to tell your story.
